What is Coplogic?
What are Coplogic Reports:
The Santa Cruz Police Department uses an online reporting system "Coplogic" to log citizen reports of crime such as: Harassing Phone Calls, Hit and Run, Identity Theft, Lost Property, Theft, Vandalism, Vehicle Burglary, and Vehicle Tampering.
This on line reporting system is used to generate a police report for specific "non-person" crimes when no suspect information exists.
What you will find:
The Coplogic reports are included in the SCPD's Media Release Logs. These postings are entered on a seemingly random basis, frequently fail to list incident location, and not of much use. So I requested all of the Coplogic Reports for the 2017 calendar year. After much back and forth with the Records Division staff, I received the requested documents. While I did receive them in an electronic format, there was no official letterhead, signatures for authenticity, etc. I received them in a series of unmarked spreadsheets-- separated by month. Users of this information will have to take my word for it-- these records are from the SCPD.
Additional Notes: for 2017, I "sanitized" these reports for general public consumption. I have removed specific address (123 Apple Street/ Apt b) with an approximate location (100 Block of Apple Street). I have also deleted any address listed that was outside the jurisdiction of the SCPD, and all multiple entries for the same reported crime with duplicate SCPD Case numbers. I have posted these reports in a pdf format to protect their integrity.
