In looking at crime/ safety issues in Santa Cruz, and in particular the parks, you must consider the efforts of the city's park rangers. The recent findings in the CPSM audit pointed this out as well. They recommended, for a variety of reasons, that due to their public safety role they be transferred from the Parks Department and assigned to the Police Department. This transfer occurred on or about July 01, 2018.
